This journey began on October 1st, 2008. These are the thoughts of a responsible tourist.

San Quintin (or unbalanced ecology)

2008-10-28

In a true spirit of solidarity with the travelers, through this media I write the following WARNING: while you continue your trip by the coast of California, Mexico, the water level will be decreasing more and more every time. Towards the San Quintin Bay the golden beach turns ocher-colored, just like the desert.

Bay of los Angeles (or how to be a whale shark without dying in the attempt)

2008-10-23

I continued my trip in the Bay of los Angeles, looking for more sea fauna; but, I found an environmental problem. In fact, more than one. They are like mosquitoes distracting you, hindering your own thoughts.

San Ignacio (or “safe”)

2008-10-21

The next stop in my itinerary (it feels funny to have one, it's way too formal), was the San Ignacio lagoon. During the hot months, the fabulous gray wale lives in this lagoon and doesn’t surrender to the man-made threatens, it withstands wounds and attacks, as well as hunting and outrages,  and everything just for enjoying the benefits of the Sea of Cortez.

Loreto (or “Baja California for Californians”)

2008-10-16

I was thrilled; I arrived to Loreto feeling that I would swim with one of the most diverse sea fauna in the world; but, then, I unpacked and GRRGggrrgrrgRGGGrrr! I forgot my mask and snorkel! How am I supposed to enjoy the “World's aquarium” (according to Jacques Cousteau) without snorkeling gear? I’ll be back in a minute… I’m going to buy one.

Magdalena (or how to kill the grey whale)

2008-10-14
It is not a humongous stone nor the Mexican version of Nessie, but the astonishing gray whale visiting Magdalena bay, where I arrived to see them mate and give birth. No perversions, of course.

La Paz (or the information traps)

2008-10-10

Due to my findings in Los Cabos, I decided to get a bit of information before jumping into the unknown in my trip to La Paz. Paradoxically, I was surprised in a good way because there is a clean environment in this city that drives you to go out for a walk. After a while, the smell of food watered my mouth and the weather cheered my spirit. I had a break.

Los Cabos (and its vision of progress)

2008-10-07

In Los Cabos the cruises are so white that dazzle. No, it is not foolish. They are such big boats, so pristine and luxurious that you have to cover you eyes to protect yourself from their terrifying reflex. But the truth is that the sight of a port filled with these first-class-monsters is indelibly, especially when –through the back door- they drop the tons of garbage they leave to the city.
